Biography
MW MILLER
After exclusively working in oil paints for over thirty years Miller has transitioned into using Watercolor as his primary medium. Using a “Wet on Wet” technique with highly pigmented paints he can produce bold colors with expressive brushstrokes.
Miller’s paintings are highly influenced by the works of Edward Hopper and Andrew Wyeth. Their approach to the routines of the working class mixed with monumental structures creating an open narrative is what attracted Miller to their body of work.
In 1997, Miller organized and curated a group exhibition featuring “Found Object” sculpture. Debris from the F-5 tornado that hit Jefferson County was used to create the sculptures. The body of work was auctioned off and the proceeds were donated to the communities affected, to help rebuild.
Exhibits include 2 one man shows and several juried and group shows through out the Southern States. Miller continues to paint daily from his Birmingham based studio.
